Is exercise only enough?

Published 12 months ago • 1 min read

Exercise is a great start, but in my biased yet accurate opinion, no, it is not enough.

In the Flex Diet Cert - which opens again this June 5, 2032 - I make a distinction between exercise vs recreation and even NEAT -like walking.

Which is best for better body composition?

The short answer is - do all 3.

Yes go lift weights.

Yes, go do cardio.

Yes, go for a walk.

Yes, learn a new skill - even if you suck at it. Have something where your brain must use some of its grey matter to calculate you moving through space. Stop morphing into a sea slug.

Think of how hard it would be to teach a robot to catch a ball? Yet that is a simple task for us humans.

Use your brain in news ways via recreation.

Learn to surf, kiteboard--wahoo, play tennis, golf, and as a last resort pickle ball.

Send it!

Your anti-sea slug friend,

Dr Mike

PS- Here is a vid compiled by John C (Cool Videos on youtube) via a drone of my last kiteboarding trip to South Padre Island TX.

How does one ascend to greatness? It's a ludicrously simple two-pronged strategy I've dubbed: BrainZ vs. BallZ. Greetings from the sun-drenched, wind-battered shores of South Padre Island. Your favorite intellectual daredevil has nearly concluded a month of kitesurfing and cerebral calisthenics (aka getting my glute max handed to me by the kite as the cohesion force of water face palms me). Yesterday blasted in with gale-force glory, perfect for vaulting sky-high and mastering the art of...

Are you fed up with the pseudo-scientific mud that clutters the pristine landscape of our noble fitness pursuits? Tired of hearing from 18 year old internet GooRoos who have not even trained a sea slug but are all of a sudden an X-purt on getting shredded for summer? It's high time to arm yourself with the sharpest weapon in the battle against the balderdash being peddled by the so-called "experts." Plug into MASS (Monthly Applications in Strength Sport), the beacon of truth in a sea of...
