A good question came up:
"Yo Doc, what is the difference between metabolic flexibility as you teach in the Flex Diet Cert vs Physiologic Flexibility here? Thanks " - Dan
Physiologic flexibility is a term I coined to reflect the thought process on how you can build more flexible humans systemically.
Metabolic Flexibility = improved body composition & performance via nutrition + sleep
Physiologic Flexibility = improved health, robustness & recoverability
This is done via next level interventions that target homeostatic regulators, that allows improved body composition and performance indirectly.
If you are crushing nutrition and programming, naturally you probably want to know what the next level of interventions you can start to implement with both your clients and yourself.
This next level of fitness education involves truly understanding the science behind the homeostatic regulators which are at the heart of Phys Flex.
Yah, yah, nerds yammering away. What does this mean in reality?
In practice this boils down to breathwork, cold and hot therapy, pH changes (think high intensity interval training), blood glucose, ketones, and more via a complete system.
Plus, your clients will think these new additions are super cool –well for the most part as there is an initial suck factor to them.
The other benefit is that most of these interventions don’t take a ton of time either.
Bonus 1: As I mentioned earlier, I am doing a crazy thing where everyone who enrolls by this Tues night at midnight PST get a f.ree private 1 hour call with me. Yep! You can ask me anything you want. This call alone is a legit $250 value.
Bonus 2: When you enroll in the Phys Flex Certified by Wed night at midnight, you’ll also get access to the fast action bonus group ‘“Ask Me Anything” series of 5 calls that I did recently for a very small select group. You will get access to all of them (4.5 hours of content) completely free and as soon as we verify your enrollment.
As a heads up, the next time I offer the Phys Flex Cert in 2024, the price willl go up to just under $1,000; but you can still get it now cheaper.
Phys Flex for the win!
PS – Don’t worry about getting overwhelmed on the science and losts in the pubmed archives as while there is more science than you can shake a beeker at, I break it all down into very explicit action items so your clients (and you) will know exactly what to do without spending tons of time trying to figure it all out. Plus if you still have questions you will get my private email to ask any questions.
PPS- where is what Dr Dan Pardi has to say
"Dr. Mike T. Nelson has put in a great deal of time and effort to not only push forward the evidence base in the field of metabolic / physiologic flexibility, but also to help translate this complex scientific knowledge into practical applications that actually help individuals, athletes, and coaches make meaningful improvements."
